Client Spotlight!

While I want to give you all the information and tools to succeed in your fitness journey through my blogs, I also want to be able to highlight the incredible successes of my clients on their own personal journey towards a healthier lifestyle. Its important to highlight, as we are a community chasing the same thing, a happier life, a healthier life both physically and mentally. It's my hope that each story may be able to help you on your own journey in some way. All of my clients do so incredibly well with their training and have much to be proud of. So let's kick it off!!


Meet Amanda!

Amanda and I have been working together for over 3 years. Since beginning her fitness journey Amanda has lost over 60kg!! Not only that Amanda has improved her lifts in all categories to the point she is nearing a 100kg deadlift. Amanda is consistent, dedicated and passionate on all things health and fitness and I asked her some questions about her journey towards a healthier life.


What got you started on your fitness journey?

I’d never been into health or fitness and my bad habits snowballed when I ate my way through the first year of lockdown in 2020. In early 2021 I went clothes shopping with a friend and when nothing would fit I was motivated to join the gym to start walking on a treadmill. I was hooked - I started feeling better about myself immediately and soon progressed to regular PT sessions.


What do you enjoy about training?

I love how it makes me feel - fit, strong and healthy. I also love that allows me to switch off from everything going on in my life, clear my mind and focus on myself. It becomes more than just training the body but training my mind too!


What keeps you disciplined on your journey?

Since kicking off my journey in 2021 I’ve lost over 60kg’s so I’m motivated to maintain my new lifestyle (and wear nice clothes). I’m also motivated by the results I’ve been getting from Chris’ programs and his supportive and educational style of training - he makes it very easy to show up and be my best. I also know how important being healthy flows into every avenue of my life, it's even allowed me to pursue a passion in golf which I can now do regularly with ease.


Nutrition is a key component to a healthy lifestyle, how do you focus on that?

I use My Fitness Pal to plan and track my food. The app calculates a range of nutritional values - it recommends how much you should be eating of each nutrient so I use it to ensure I’m eating well balanced meals and snacks. I have cut out allot of the processed foods I use to reach for and replaced them with better healthier alternatives.


What is something you would say to others on a fitness journey to help them stay motivated?

Keep showing up and doing the best you can. There will be times that you don’t feel like it (I’ve had plenty!) but something is better than nothing, and every little bit counts. It's not an all or nothing approach it's a keep showing up consistently approach that will lead to the greatest success.


What is your favourite form of exercise?

I still love walking on the treadmill! It’s how I started my fitness journey and I still enjoy using it to get my steps up. I love that I can pop on my headphones, watch some tv and tune out for 45 minutes of me time.

Like all of us there are ups and downs on the journey but Amanda continues to be consistent and that element of her approach is what has compounded into the amazing success of her journey so far!
